Follow in the footsteps of the genius of Edo, Iehiro Konoe.
Iechi was a literary figure active in the mid-Edo period (Late 17th century). He was a scholar and a master calligrapher, who also enjoyed the tea ceremony, the art of incense and flower arrangement. He was also a curator who discovered the artistic value of waka poems and paintings handed down in the Chikamori family from generation to generation and sublimated them into works of art.

“Shozoku” - Court Costume Experience

This is an opportunity to experience the court costume of the court nobles who were in charge of rituals and various ceremonies at court.
The court costumes were decorated with a variety of stylistic beauty in subtle ways, such as the use of colours to indicate official rank and delicate embroidered patterns to subtly express the family's status.
Models are fitted with costumes and a costume specialist, who has been in business for more than 300 years, provides commentary to help visitors recall the atmosphere of the court of the time.
